Memories for life: Hanmer Springs Top 10 Holiday Park

Holiday Parks are in our Kiwi DNA. We adored them as children, and as adults they provide the perfect relaxing break.

C hildren growing up in traffic-dominated cities discover the complete freedom of roaming the park on bikes or on foot. Choosing between the jumping pillow, exploring, and fun bikes shapes memories found nowhere else. Older generations can do as much or as little as they like, with plenty of company and never a dull moment. A seat in the sun with fresh espresso provides a constant kaleidoscope of interest.

There’s peace of mind that comes with booking a holiday park stay. We expect a joyful but down to earth vacation, right? Hospitality New Zealand Excellence

Awards would beg to differ in a big way. Its 2022 People’s Choice Award has been won by the Hanmer Springs Top 10 Holiday Park.

With its mantra of “Memories for Life” and a commitment to creating a world class experience, the prestigious People’s Choice Award is well deserved. The

Award itself is 100 percent based on the vote of the people, and the people have voted Hanmer Springs Top 10 Holiday Park a better experience than luxury lodges and hotels, favourite motels, and international chains.

It is the first time ever a holiday park has won an award. “There were 220 finalists,” says co-owner Jacqui Anderson, “To have become a finalist and represent our industry for the Best Accommodation (Other) category at this prestigious event was a real buzz in itself, but to then be voted as the winners of the People’s Choice Award really pushed the excitement level off the charts – thanks to all our fantastic guests who voted for us.”

Jacqui and husband Dean know that it’s the little things that make a difference. The barista coffee available at reception, the locally made gourmet pizzas which guests can cook on the outdoor pizza ovens, a soak in a private wood-fired hot tub, or a luxurious shower in the Italian tiled bathrooms complete with underfloor heating, are just some of the little surprises that add up to a haven of pleasure.

There’s even an on-site meeting room. “It is an ideal spot for team building and small retreats with attendees able to have meetings under the radar one day, go jet boating the next, and enjoy world class food throughout,” says Dean.

In the last four years they have added five architecturally designed luxury apartments. “It has bought a whole new level to our business, it really is ‘your home away from home,’” says Jacqui.
